The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is theonly organisation that brings together the national associations of local and regional authorities from 41 European countries and represents, through them, all levels of territories – local, intermediate and regional.
The Cyprus team has managed to persuade 200 mayors and local government officials that it could offer a great conference on the island. Hence, the event took place at the Filoxenia Conference Centre on 20 – 22 April 2016 in Nicosia. Hospitality, the official Greek word ‘Filoxenia’, doesn’t do justice to the concept as it does not encompass its main element, which is generosity of spirit. What is certain is that it is one of the attributes of the Cypriot character and culture that we take pride in.
In this spirit, Cyprus proved for one more time that it can be the ideal place to host your conference, a place where you can mix professionalism and networking with a fabulous leisure time.
Every four years, CEMR gathers its members and partners for the Congress of European Municipalities and Regions and this year, the Municipality of Nicosia hosted the event with great success.
Thirty sessions have been organized during this prestigious event, in a variety of formats, covering a great variety of topics such as Governance & Leadership, Economy & Finance, Business, Technology & Innovation, Society & Culture, Environment, Climate & Energy, Cooperation & Partnerships, EU Integration.
